Over the last two weeks you may have noticed a little construction at the gym. We are excited to announce that this will be our new Kids Area. Next to the old “blue room” is a new blue room dedicated to keeping the youngest members of CrossFit Imperial Valley safe while visiting the gym. This room was built with the purpose of providing a much needed area in which kids can play safely and entertain themselves while their parents workout. While we welcome our member’s children as an important part of our CFIV community and ultimately as the future CrossFitters of the Valley, we are striving to find a balance between our obligations as a business with liability concerns and the needs of our clients. This will not be a daycare, it will be an air-conditioned Play Area for kids to hang out. During the hours that the gym is most occupied, extra safety precautions will be taken and a Supervisor will be present in the Kids Area. The purpose of this Supervisor is to make sure the kids stay in the safety of the Play Area and do not wonder out into the gym. Their primary role is not to entertain the kids. We ask that parents be responsible for their kids at all times. In addition, please be considerate that all ages are currently allowed to use the Kids Area and therefore, each parent will need to assess the room for potential safety concerns appropriate for their child’s age. Please understand that we are working to accommodate as many people as possible and that we will need to come together to make this a success.
Due to the costs associated with running this new Kids Area, we will be charging a small fee to use this room. Families will have the option to pay either $3 a day or $30 a month for a maximum of three kids per family. This means that if you bring one, two or three kids, the cost is the same. However, if space becomes an issue, this may change and, again, parents are still responsible for their children at all times. In an effort to be fair to all members, we ask that all kids under the age of 12 who are not accompanied by an adult who is not working out, use the Kids Area and pay either the daily or monthly fee. Kids who are not old enough to supervise themselves will no longer be allowed to hang out in the reception area or anywhere in the larger gym area without an adult.
For those of you with children, we hope this new room will allow you the freedom to attend classes more frequently and with less worry as to the safety of your young ones. We are aiming to open up the Kids Area for use in the next two weeks. Until then, everything concerning kids in the gym will stay as it has been. Please contact email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
